Illinois State Police Say This Morning’s Crash Was A Fatal

Southbound I-55 near 355/John Mares
One person was killed and two others were critically injured following a crash this morning on southbound I-55 near Joliet Road. Illinois State Police say the three car crash shut down I-55 southbound for nearly 3 hours. Three people were sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries and one person died. The crash occurred around 5 a.m. and left hundreds of motorists stranded for hours prior to the crash.
