Illinois To Lose One Congressional Seat

There will be one fewer member of Illinois’ congressional delegation.  The Census Bureau announced today there will only be 17 members of Congress from Illinois after the 2022 election due to a small drop in population from 2010.  The Illinois General Assembly will be tasked at redrawing the congressional districts once full census data is released in August.  Illinois had 27 seats in Congress after the 1930 census.
