Nurses from St. Joseph Medical Center hold rally for fair contract/md/June 2023
Ascension nurses at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet will be holding an informational picket today (Wednesday, May 1st) between 5 and 8 p.m. It’s been almost one year since contract talks between the Illinois Nurses Association and Ascension began. Nurses have been working without a contract since July of last year. Talks between the two are ongoing but not in person, they are online only. Oncology nurse Kaitlynd French says Ascension is hesitant to give nurses any movement to get the contract done.
Nurses says they’re down 300 nurses from chronic understaffing and below market wages.
Negotiations expected May 7th and May 16th.
