Inmate Dies At Will County Adult Detention Center

A 78-year old inmate was found unresponsive at the Will County Adult Detention Center. Deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to provide a police escort to a local area hospital for the inmate. The 78-year-old from Crest Hill was found unresponsive by staff inside the medical unit of the WCADF and later died.

The identity of the inmate is being withheld at this time until notification can be made to the family. He had been incarcerated since early July. Personnel from the Will County Sheriff’s Office attempted to perform life-saving measures on the unresponsive inmate. The Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is investigated the death.

An autopsy of the deceased inmate was conducted on August 20th by the Will County Coroner’s Office. Early indication suggest that the inmate died as a result of him having a medical emergency. Until the conclusion of further testing and toxicology results are available, the manner and cause of death will be undetermined.
