On October 12, 2024, at 12:19 a.m., a Joliet Police Officer working a security assignment detail at The  Forge at 22 West Cass Street attempted to speak to Karkoszka while on the sidewalk outside of  the business, advising him to leave multiple times after it was determined that Karkoszka was intoxicated and was repeatedly harassing female patrons. Karkoszka grew verbally combative  toward the Officer and challenged the Officer to fight. Karkoszka then approached the Officer in a threatening manner and was taken to the ground by the Officer. While on the ground, Karkoszka continued to resist, but was eventually placed into custody.

While being processed at the Joliet Police Department, Karkoszka continued to be belligerent to Officers and he refused to cooperate. Karkoszka attempted to spit at Officers and eventually struck an Officer in the arm while in the booking area. Karkoszka was transferred to the Will  County Adult Detention Facility.
