Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers Varsity Wrestlers Are Class 2A State Champs

There will be an all-school assembly honoring the Joliet Catholic Academy Hilltoppers varsity wrestling team on Monday, February 28 at 2:10 p.m. in the JCA Student Activity Center. The boys are Class 2A IHSA State Team Champs, when they won their finals in Bloomington. Last week, several wrestlers made program history at the IHSA State Individual finals, which included two state champions, a program record eight state qualifiers, and another program record five state medalists.

285 lbs. State Champion – Dillan Johnson

145 lbs. State Runner-Up – Mason Alessio

138 lbs. 5th Place – Owen O’Connor

195 lbs. 4th Place – Owen Gerdes

Also, JCA freshman wrestler Grace Laird made school history as the first girls wrestler to compete for JCA at the IHSA State Girls Wrestling Finals. She finished 1-2 Friday.
