Six Joliet Central High School Track Team members qualified to advance to the IHSA Track & Field State Final Meet after competing in the Sectional Competition at Bloom High School on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. The Joliet Central Track Team is coached by Brian Reed, Doug Cherry, Mike Heilman, and Andy Harris. Joliet Central High School’s state qualifiers were also the sectional champions.

Joliet Central sophomore Jason Dworak finished as the Sectional Champion for the 1600-Meter Run with a finish time of 4:23.35. For the 4×800-Meter Relay, Joliet Central’s Brayan Ruiz, Johnathan Garcia, Ben Baltz, and Jason Dworak finished as the Sectional Champions finishing with a time of 8:08.68. Jamie Goin set a new school outdoor record and finished as the Pole Vault Sectional Championship by reaching a height of 13’8 on Wednesday.

Coach Reed said, “We are so proud of all the qualifiers and their families! Go out and represent the Steelmen well.”
