Jacob G. Delgado (21, Joliet) was arrested and taken to the Will County Jail for the offenses of Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding a Peace Officer, Theft of a Motor Vehicle (2 cts), and Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.

On 05/22/19 at approximately 05:18am, Officers responded to the 3400 blk of Indian Head Lane reference to a stolen motor vehicle. The victim stated his Ram pickup truck was stolen from his residence and he was able to locate the stolen vehicle in the 2800 blk of Stone Creek Drive with the keys missing.

While Officers were in the area, they were notified about another stolen vehicle. The victim noticed his Hyundai Genesis missing from his residence in the 3700 blk of Indian Head Lane. The victim drove his Ford Focus around the neighborhood and found the Hyundai Genesis running unoccupied in the 3800 blk of Saratoga. The victim then drove the Hyundai Genesis back to his residence and left his Ford Focus running unoccupied in the 3800 blk of Saratoga. When the victim returned with his wife to drive the Ford Focus back to his residence, he observed Delgado driving away in the Ford Focus. The victim searched his Hyundai Genesis and located several items that were not his, including a firearm. The firearm was turned over the Officers on scene.

Officers in the area were able to locate the stolen Ford Focus in the 3400 blk of Indian Head Lane with Delgado driving the vehicle. Officers activated their emergency lights. The vehicle refused to pull over and took off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude Officers. Officers pursued the vehicle until Delgado lost control of the vehicle at Old Renwick Trail and Renwick Road and ended up in a swampy ditch. Delgado took off running into the nearby golf course. Officers setup a perimeter and were able to located Delgado and took him into custody without incident.

Officers also responded to the 3700 blk of Sheppard Court reference to a burglary to motor vehicle. Proceeds from the burglary were also recovered in one of the stolen vehicles. The burglary was captured on a home surveillance system showing Delgado entering the vehicle and removing items.

The keys to the Ram pickup truck were located in the one of the stolen vehicles. The firearm recovered did not belong to any of the victims and Officers are investigating whether Delgado was the one who left the firearm inside the Hyundai Genesis.
