The city of Joliet Plan Commission will be looking at rezoning over 100 acres of land that could make way for Northpoint Development’s Compass Business Park. The Compass Business Park is a proposed 3,000 acre $1.2 billion logistics park. It was just just last year that the village of Elwood was approached and publicly debated the logistics park project, which did not move forward after pushback from the community. The main sticking points on the proposal have been if Will County needs for another major development of this size within the county as well as concerns over increased truck traffic. The current proposal in front of the planning commission would reclassify 103 acres of land located on the south side of Breen Road and Rowell Avenue from Single-Family Residential to Light Industrial Zoning. The Joliet Plan Commission will meet on Thursday at 4:00 pm to discuss the proposal.
