Joliet Police Involved in Shooting

Joliet Police are sharing details after an officer involved shooting on Wednesday morning. It was at 8:41 a.m. that officers were called to the 1100 block of North Center Street. Police were told that a black male suspect was outside of a residence holding a handgun, at times pointing it at the residence. 

While enroute, Joliet Police were told that the suspect had forcibly entered the house by breaking a window to the back door. Shortly after arriving officers encountered the suspect in the rear of the residence. 

The suspect then began walking toward an Officer at which time the Officer fired their weapon twice, striking the suspect once. The suspect was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. 

This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. The suspect is currently in custody and charges are pending.
