Lawmakers Calling For Stricter University President Severance Laws

Lawmakers in Springfield are calling for stricter laws regarding severance payouts for university presidents. University trustees say severances that have reached the mid-six figures in some cases are a necessary evil. The case of Southern Illinois University President Randy Dunn is being used as a test case. He received 215-thousand dollar payouts, but if he’d taken his case to court and won for termination without cause, the cost would have been over a million dollars.
