Businesses could soon be required to pay people with disabilities in Illinois the same as able bodied workers. State Rep. Theresa Mah has a plan to end sub-minimum wage pay in the state. She says it’s about fairness and dignity. Mah’s plan would use state money to pay businesses a subsidy to raise the pay for workers with disabilities. State law allows for some companies to pay disabled workers less as a way to get more disabled workers working.
