A wind chill advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. tonight and then a wind chill warning goes into effect from 6 pm tonight through Thursday morning. The National Weather Service advises people to avoid time outdoors, cover exposed skin and know the sign of frostbite and hypothermia. Frostbite can develop within minutes. If you lose feeling in any of your extremities, feeling in your fingers or your toes or your hands or you start getting a deep throbbing ache and any sort of color changes you may have frostbite. Also if your hands become pale, deep red, those could be signs of some underlying deep tissue damage according to Doctor Jeff Brakora  of Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.

Wear multiple loose layers of clothing that will trap air, acting as insulation. Bring pets indoors.  We could see wind chills as low as 55 below zero.
