Lightfoot Signs Executive Order Limiting Aldermanic Powers

Mayor Lori Lightfoot is wasting no time trying to bring change to city government in Chicago. On her first day in office yesterday, she signed an executive order stripping aldermen of their absolute power over licenses and permits in their wards. Lightfoot said the signing would be the first of many reforms to City Hall. Alderman Anthony Beale blasted the order, saying it means nothing and isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
