Students in Lincoln-Way District 210 competed in the 2019 Scholastic Art Competition this past week. The Scholastic Art Show is the most recognized and prestigious high school art exhibition in the nation. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923, and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, and Joyce Carol Oates.

In our region, more than 40 area schools submitted 2,800 works of art with only 875 pieces awarded and accepted into the show. Lincoln-Way students were recognized with 38 awards for their outstanding artwork. Eight of those were given Gold Key Awards, 13 Silver Awards, and 17 Honorable Mention Awards. Gold Key Award winners’ work will advance to New York to compete at the national level.

“We are extremely proud of all our students who entered artwork into the Scholastic competition, and congratulate those who were recognized with awards,” said Phil Labriola. District Art Department Chairperson. “With the amount of work and the exceptional quality represented, it is indeed an honor to be selected.”
