Lincoln-Way Central senior Mia Chidichimo and Lincoln-Way West senior Danielle Koska have been recognized with National Silver Key Awards in the 2019 Scholastic Art Writing Awards.

Danielle’s art titled “Floral Face” received a silver medal in the Digital Art category, while Mia’s piece “An 80s Still Life” received silver in the Mixed Media category. It is truly a large accomplishment to be recognized with a National Scholastic Award,” said Phil Labriola, District Art Department Chairperson. “The level of competition is so high that winning on the national level is a great honor for these students.  We are so proud of both Danielle and Mia.

Nearly 340,000 works of art and writing were submitted to the 2019 Scholastic Awards. All artwork that wins Gold Key awards at the Regional levels across the nation move onto New York to compete nationally. The winning artwork was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Receiving a National Medal places
students within the top 1% of all submissions.
