A high level political meeting is revealing details about a decision to cancel a performance by Confederate Railroad at the Du Quoin State Fair. Southern Illinois state Representative Terri Bryant met Monday with executive staffers from the Pritzker administration. Bryant said afterward that the decision to cancel the performance was made by the administration, not Fair officials. A spokesperson for the governor wrote in a statement that the state would not sponsor or promote the use of symbols of hate. The country-rock band’s album covers and merchandise sometimes feature Confederate flags.
