After not running for several days because of cold weather and a freight train derailment, Metra Electric trains are moving on the tracks again. Service returned on a limited basis on Sunday between Millennium Station and the Kensington-115th Street stop, plus the South Chicago Branch, but service farther south remained suspended so damage from the derailment could be repaired. In an update last night, Metra said service on the entire line will resume today, but trains will run on a modified schedule so crews can continue work. The South Shore Line, which was also shut down, started up again yesterday, as well.
