New COVID Cases Quadruple In Illinois Before Big Festival

COVID-19 is up in Illinois just as Lollapalooza is set to begin. The four-day music festival starts Thursday, with 100-thousand people expected every day. The Illinois Department of Health says new cases of COVID-19 have quadrupled in Illinois, with most caused by the highly contagious delta variant. The Chicago Medical Society COVID Task Force says the outdoor festival should be safe for people who are vaccinated, but that the unvaccinated would be at high risk of catching the virus.
