New ‘Stealth Omicron’ Could Dominate COVID Cases In Chicago Soon

A new version of the coronavirus’s omicron variant could soon be the dominant variant in Chicago.  City health commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said cases of the new so-called “stealth omicron” have been doubling in Chicago every seven days and is expected to make up most of city cases by the end of the month.  That could bring a slight increase in total cases.  The arrival of another coronavirus variation comes just a couple of months after Chicago emerged from the original omicron surge.
