Overturned Semi Causes 13 Hour Closure, Snarls Traffic For Miles

One person was injured when their semi struck a concrete barrier this morning in the northbound lanes of I-55 in Bolingbrook. The crash happened just before 12:30 in the construction zone. Once officers arrived on scene, they found a semi on its side in the two left lanes. The driver was able to get out of the mangled cab, and taken to an area hospital with injuries.

Cleanup, including removing the trailer loaded with cauliflower, drying up spilled diesel, and repairing the broken barrier, took over 13 hours, and plenty of delays along an already busy stretch.
