Pilot Project For Jury Selection In Will County To Utilize Zoom

In an effort to resolve pending civil litigation as well as to limit the number of persons entering Will County Court facilities during the pandemic, Will County Circuit Court will spearhead a pilot project approved by the Illinois Supreme Court allowing remote jury selection without consent or compelling circumstances in certain civil cases. Specifically, remote jury selection will be conducted in small claims 6-person jury trials where both sides are represented by counsel. Jurors will be summoned to appear via Zoom for jury selection. Only those selected will appear in court for the trial. It is anticipated that civil cases will be scheduled for Zoom jury selection in March 2021.

Chief Judge Daniel L. Kennedy stated, “The Twelfth Circuit is pleased to be a part of this pilot project. I would like to thank Judge O’Leary for her leadership in making this program possible.”
