The village of Plainfield is in joining several other local municipalities in banning legal recreational marijuana dispensaries from operating within their city.  The trustees voted 5 to 1 to bar dispensaries from selling marijuana within the village when it becomes legal in the state of Illinois on January 1.  Plainfield joins Bolingbrook and Naperville as the third Will County municipality to bar the shops.  Municipalities are unable to bar the use or possession of marijuana within their city limits but they do have the right to stop sales from taking place within their boundaries. WJOL is currently in the process of reaching out to all local municipalities to find out how they have voted on this issue or when they intend to vote on this issue.
