ComEd crews are working to restore power for thousands of customers today after severe storms hit the Chicago area. Storms with wind gusts up to 74-miles per hour moved through region yesterday. As of last night, 50-thousand customers didn’t have electricity. ComEd expects power to be restored to the vast majority of customers by tonight.

Clean-up began almost immediately after the storms. Trees uprooted, tree branches were down in areas of Naperville, and Glen Ellyn.

When the storms rolled through at Chicagoland Speedway, the race was just about 12 to 15 laps in and people had to take cover. Fans, drivers and everyone in between took cover under the grandstand and into the garage area.
