Candidate for Chicago mayor Toni Preckwinkle is still under attack over her ties to embattled Alderman Edward Burke. The Cook County Board president found herself on the receiving end of a number of opponents’ political shots during a debate last night. Lori Lightfoot blasted her for attempting to distance herself from Burke only after corruption allegations against him were made public. Susana Mendoza went on to criticize Preckwinkle for not taking a stance against allowing City Council members to have veto power of zoning and permitting in their wards.
