Pritzker Announces Next Phase Of I-57 Widening Project

Governor JB Pritzker is revealing the next phase of the I-57 widening project through Southern Illinois. A 68-million-dollar project starting next month will expand nine miles of I-57 to six lanes from north of state Route 149 to south of state Route 154. Crews will be installing median barrier, resurfacing the existing lanes, updating deficient guardrail, and adding rumble strips. The project wraps up in 2025.
