Pritzker Deploys National Guard Ahead Of Chauvin Verdict

The Illinois National Guard is deploying to Chicago ahead of the expected Derek Chauvin trial verdict. Governor J.B. Pritzker has given the order to deploy 125 National Guard members, at the request of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Pritzker’s office says the National Guard is expected to help manage street closures but will not interfere with peaceful protesters.
