Pritzker, Lawmakers Unveil Legislation To Strengthen Scott’s Law

Governor J.B. Pritzker and lawmakers are working to strengthen Scott’s Law. New legislation would expand protections to include first responders, IDOT workers, as well as law enforcement. The bill would also increase the minimum fine to 250-dollars for a first violation with a 250-dollar assessment fee to be deposited in the Scott’s Law Fund, and would add increased criminal penalties for collisions.
This bill requires drivers to move over when approaching law enforcement and emergency vehicles stopped on the road or any vehicle displaying flashing emergency lights.
