Public hearing Sept. 25 on I-55 at Airport Road/Lockport Street and at Illinois 126 interchange in Will County

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a public hearing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, on a proposed project to improve Interstate 55 at Airport Road/Lockport Street and at Illinois 126, in Will County.

The purpose of the hearing is to inform the public about the project development process, present the preferred alternative, including the impacts to Four Seasons Park and obtain public input. The proposed project consists of reconstructing the existing interchange at I-55 and Illinois 126, constructing a new interchange at I-55 and Airport Road/Lockport Street, installing bicycle and pedestrian accommodations and drainage improvements. It also consists of a permanent road closure on East Frontage Road at Airport Road.

The public hearing will be in an open-house format. All interested parties are encouraged to attend:

Exhibits will be on display and an audio-visual presentation will be shown continuously during the meeting. Project team members will be present to answer questions.
