Red Cross hosting 7th Annual Blood Drive on Route 66
The American Red Cross continues to see a concerning trend – blood donations are being sent to hospitals faster than they are coming in. The Red Cross has collected about 50,000 fewer blood donations than needed over the last two months. Donors are asked to make an appointment to give blood now to avoid a looming blood shortage.
The American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley invites the community to give at the 7th Annual Blood Drive on Route 66. By doing so, you can make a difference in the lives of others. Donated blood products help cancer patients, accident victims, and so many others.
Blood Drive on Route 66
Wednesday, July 26 | 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rialto Square Theatre
102 N Chicago St, Joliet, IL 60432
Appointments are needed for this drive. Sign up by using the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 800-RED CROSS (Sponsor code: ROUTE66). The need for blood is constant – every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
Donors will receive an officially licensed Shark Week T-shirt, while supplies last. Donors will also be automatically entered for a chance to win a three-night New York getaway for two with a private shark dive adventure at Long Island Aquarium. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Shark.
