Romeoville Man Arrested Following July Shooting

Another arrest made in the September Operation Streetsweeper dragnet in Joliet. Nevin McMurtry (22, Romeoville) was arrested,  processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated  Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Felon.  

Following an extensive investigation of a July 24th shooting at 5:30 a.m., detectives identified McMurtry and D’Amonta Barber (25, Joliet) as suspects following reports of shots being fired in the 1400 block of North Center Street.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for both McMurtry and Barber for the above listed charges. Barber was taken into custody by Joliet  Police Officers on September 3, 2024. On November 12, 2024, McMurtry was placed into  custody in Downers Grove, Illinois, by members of the US Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task  Force. McMurtry was transported to the Joliet Police Department for questioning and then  transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.  

As part of the September Operation Streetsweeper, 21 people arrested in September.
