Route 53 Northbound at Laraway Road Now Open

UPDATE: The investigation has concluded and the roadway is now open.

WJOL has learned that Route 53 Northbound is currently closed between Laraway Road and Zuirch Road due to an accident. All traffic on Route 53 Northbound is currently being detoured onto Laraway Road. The accident investigation is being handled by the Illinois State Police. IDOT is currently on scene putting up cones and signs to shut down the intersection. Stay tuned to WJOL for the latest regarding this story.
