The Salvation Army’s bell-ringing campaign is already benefiting from the generosity of the Chicago area. Last Friday, an anonymous donor dropped the first Gold Eagle coin of the season into a red kettle at a Hobby Lobby in northwest suburban Crystal Lake. The coin is worth between 12-hundred and 15-hundred dollars. The donation will help The Salvation Army provide emergency assistance, a food pantry and holiday meals in McHenry County.
