Message from JCA President Following Scary Moments For JCA After Miscommunication

A message from JCA Principal to students and parents following yesterday’s code blue lockdown.

At 8:55 a.m. this morning (Monday, Sept 13) Joliet Catholic Academy was placed on a campus wide “code blue lockdown”. The code blue was triggered by a classroom phone. Joliet Police immediately responded to investigate. It is believed this button was inadvertently pressed by a teacher or student, and there is no immediate threat to the campus. There were no threats called in or made online to the campus. The JCA administration is continuing to investigate the cause of the alarm and will update our campus community when further information is available.

Parents, please know that during a code blue lockdown, JCA is advised not to communicate with media or parents until the “all clear” is given. Joliet Police will maintain a presence on campus today at dismissal. As always, the safety of our students and staff on campus is our top priority.

Dr. Jeffrey Budz

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal

Original story below:

A big police presence at Joliet Catholic Academy on Monday morning turned out to be a false alarm. A code blue lockdown was sent from a classroom phone to the Joliet Police Department. That code is sent when there is an active shooter in the school. There was no active shooter. Joliet Police immediately responded to investigate. It is believed this button was inadvertently pressed by a teacher or student, and there is no immediate threat to the campus. There were no threats called in or made online. JCA staff is meeting to try and figure out what happened.
