Senate Republicans are putting forth a resolution calling for a change in the state constitution. The change proposed Tuesday would require the House and Senate to meet a two-thirds majority before raising or enacting new taxes. The current threshold to approve a tax increase is a simple majority in each chamber. The new plan would make it much harder for the legislature to create new sources of revenue.
