More details Following Shooting Reported at Joliet Gas Station

Joliet Police Officers are investigating a shooting that took place Murphy’s Express gas station along Route 59 on Thursday evening.

On November 18, 2021, at 5:58 PM, Officers responded to the Murphy’s Express gas station (1481 Route 59) in reference to a report of gunshots being fired. A preliminary investigation revealed that while in the parking lot of the gas station, an unknown suspect fired a weapon from the passenger side of a vehicle at another vehicle in the lot, striking only the vehicle. During this incident, both the suspect and victim vehicles struck an unoccupied and uninvolved vehicle that was parked at a gas pump. The occupants of the suspect vehicle then fled the scene on foot. This appears to be an isolated incident. This is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police Detectives work to identify a suspect or suspects. The Joliet Police Department will provide updates when further information becomes available.
