Shots Fired In Winston Woods, Puts Elementary School On Soft Lockdown Last Thursday

On August 31, at 11:28 am, officers were dispatched to the area north of the Winston Woods Park, located at 200 Winston Drive, for the reported sound of gunshots. The Bolingbrook Police Department immediately dispatched officers to the nearby Wood View Elementary School, where the school was placed on a soft lock down. During this time the building was secured, and classes remained in session.

 

After a short investigation, officers located 18-year-old Justin Kaye of Bolingbrook, and a 17-year-old male juvenile near the 700 block of North Bolingbrook Drive. Two handguns were recovered at the scene and both subjects were taken into custody. The initial investigation has revealed that Kaye and the juvenile were shooting at bottles in the wooded area where they were located.

 

Justin Kaye was charged with the following offenses:

 

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Possession of a Firearm – No FOID

Possession of Ammunition – No FOID

 

Justin Kaye was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
