Six Hurt Following Traffic Crash In Joliet On Easter Sunday

Six people were hurt in a traffic crash on Easter Sunday. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon when Joliet Police Officers responded to the area of Route 30 (Plainfield Road) and North Frederick Street for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a sedan driven by a 20-year-old Plainfield male was westbound on Route 30 approaching North Frederick Street. This vehicle then lost control and entered the eastbound lanes of Route 30 and struck a sport utility vehicle that was eastbound Route 30 driven by a 40-year-old male New Lenox resident.

Six individuals were transported to area hospitals. The driver and passenger of the sedan as well as the driver and a passenger of the sport utility vehicle were transported to Amita St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two male juvenile passengers of the sport utility vehicle (8) and (14) were transported to Silver Cross Hospital with life threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit.
