Jussie Smollett is requesting that the lawsuit filed against him by the city of Chicago be moved from state to federal court.  In a motion filed Wednesday, the actor’s lawyers argue that federal court is the proper venue for the case because the actor is a California resident.  The city sued Smollett in April for the cost of investigating his allegations that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in Chicago in January.  The suit came after prosecutors decided to dismiss charges against the actor related to making a false report.
