Sports Team License Plates Generate $13M For Illinois Public Schools

The Secretary of State’s office says sports team license plates have raised over 13 million dollars for statewide public schools. Department spokesperson Beth Kaufman says some teams are more popular than others. She adds that over 71 thousand vehicles in Illinois have sport team plates, with 25 dollars from each purchase going to education. The least popular plates are the Bulls and St. Louis Cardinals.
