State General Assembly Cancels Session Days Due COVID Surge

Illinois lawmakers are shortening their first legislative sessions of the new year due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.  Legislative leaders say two of the three days the state General Assembly is scheduled to meet next week have been canceled.  Also three days scheduled for the following week will likely be canceled as well.  The pandemic wiped out most days of in-person legislative action in Springfield in 2020.
