State Public Health Officials Working With CDC to Identify Monkeypox Cases in Illinois

The Illinois Department of Public Health is continuing to work with the CDC and local public health officials to investigate suspected cases of monkeypox in Illinois.  As of yesterday, state health officials are reporting ten Illinois cases, including nine in Chicago and one in DuPage County.  While Monkeypox is a rare disease and doesn’t spread easily between people without close contact, health officials urge the general public to be aware of the small but growing number of cases.
