Strong Storms Tuesday, Closes Schools in Channahon

Channahon damage from Tuesday, Sept 7th storms/ss

Channahon schools are closed today. A message to Channahon School District-17, due to damaging storms on Tuesday afternoon is forcing the district to cancel school on Wednesday September 8th. Plus after school athletics and clubs will be canceled as well.

School is expected to resume on Thursday, September 9th.

Channahon has also announced that ComEd has restored powered to 87% of the affected areas. If you have a downed tree on your private property, you are asked to bring the debris from your yard to the public right-of-way. Public Works staff cannot enter onto private property for removal of debris. As a large amount of town was affected by yesterday’s storm, it may be a few days or longer before Public Works is able to get to your property to remove debris. A timeline for cleanup will be established in the near future.
