There’s a new contender for the already crowded Republican ticket for the 14th Congressional District, and it’s a familiar name to the area. Illinois State Senator Sue Rezin, who currently holds the seat for the 38th District, announced yesterday that she will be running for the seat, currently held by Democratic freshman Congresswoman Lauren Underwood of Naperville.

The 14th Congressional District encompasses parts of Will, Grundy, Kendall, DeKalb, Kane, McHenry and Lake counties, a far larger and different landscape than Rezin is used to running for, but feels that the issues that affect her constituents in the 38th State Senate district.

She also says that even though she is in a crowded field, including local dairy magnate Jim Oberweis, her chances of making the Republican ticket are pretty good.

Rezin has already filed with the FEC to run for Congress, and her campaign will not affect her current position in the 38th district.
