The Joliet Police Department is investigating a Homicide that occurred in the 700 blk Palladium Drive East in the early morning of June 9, 2019.

At approximately 03:05 a.m., Officers responded to the 700 block of Palladium Drive East in reference to shots fired. Officers located a 17 year old male inside a vehicle who had been shot on Palladium Drive East. The male had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Another victim (17 year old female) inside the vehicle had also been shot and was being treated at Saint Joseph Medical Center in serious but stable condition. Two other individuals who were in the vehicle were not injured.

Early indications is a dark colored SUV started following the victim’s vehicle. At some point a person or persons began shooting at the vehicle striking the victims.

This is an ongoing investigation and is still in its early stages. The Joliet Police is actively looking into what occurred. The Joliet Police will update the public at a later date when it has more information.

The Joliet Police Department is currently looking for assistance from the public. If any residence or business has surveillance videos of any suspicious activity between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on June 9, 2019, they are encouraged to contact Detective Ray Jansma at 815-724-3028 or the Investigation Unit at 815-724-3020. The area of focus is from Infantry to Woodlawn between Black Road and Jefferson Street.
