Two People Hospitalized Following SUV/Pace Bus Crash

A vehicle and PACE bus crashed on Friday, October 6th at 4:18pm. The Joliet Fire Department responded to the corner of Ingalls Ave. and Cora St. for reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a Pace Bus and an SUV. The initial report stated the SUV was on its side and people were trapped inside. Engine Company 5 with Ambulance 5 arrived within 4 minuets and began to set up to extricate the two front seat passengers in the overturned SUV. A Joliet Fire Department EMS Lieutenant was in the area and arrived on the scene. He was able to assisted with assessing the driver and passengers of the Pace bus. Additional fire crew were called for to assist in the operation.
Truck Company 1 arrived and assisted with the extrication of the driver and passenger in the SUV. Two additional ambulances responded to receive patients from the incident. The two people extricated from the SUV received treatment from Joliet Firefighter Paramedics and were transported to receiving medical facilities in stable condition.
Passengers on the bus did not receive injuries and did not require medical care. Commonwealth Edison was called to the scene to secure downed power lines.
