Two Teens on foot and on a Bicycle Were Shot In The Western Food Mart Parking Lot in Joliet

On Thursday, August 28, 2024, at 9:11 p.m., Joliet Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Western Avenue for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a  shooting had just taken place near the parking lot of the Western Food Mart (Cuddy Store – 308  Western Avenue). Officers located two shooting victims nearby in the 300 block of Bluff Street.  It was discovered that a 17-year-old male had sustained a single gunshot wound to the right calf and a 15-year-old male had sustained a single gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Officers rendered  medical assistance to both victims prior to the arrival of Joliet Fire Department paramedics. It is believed that both victims were shot while entering the parking lot of the Western Food Mart on foot and on a bicycle. Both gunshot victims were transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical  Center by the Joliet Fire Department in stable condition. Both injuries were determined to be  non-life threatening. Multiple spent shell casings were located at the scene as a result of a  canvass of the scene and surrounding area.  

This is an active and fluid investigation as Detectives work to identify the suspect(s) in this  shooting.
