Fans of the woodcock’s wacky mating ritual dance will have a chance to spot the species during three free Forest Preserve District of Will County programs in March. Two “Woodcock Walk” programs for ages 7 and older will be held from: 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township; and 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access in Mokena. Registration is not required. The third program, “Woodcock Walk for Adults,” is for ages 18 and older, and it is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon.
