Will County Executive Committee Urged To Continue Caton Farm-Bruce Road Bridge

Will County Board member representing Lockport, Annette Parker says it would be a big mistake for the Will County Executive Committee to shelve the Caton Farm-Bruce Road Bridge project that would connect Crest Hill to Lockport.

Lockport City Manager Ben Benson agrees.

The study so far has cost nearly 7-million dollars since 2001.

The bridge would span from Route 30/Gaylord, the five corners area, to 159th and travel for more than 10 miles to go over the Des Plaines River Bridge. It would connect Crest Hill to Lockport and Homer Glen.

If phase one is completed, then municipalities and the Will County Board can seek federal funds to complete the project. IDOT estimates the project cost to be over $600-million and Benson says federal funding could be in excess of 80%.

If the committee this Thursday approves the project, then the vote would go to the full county board next week.
