Willow Springs Man Charged With DUI For Fatal I-55 Crash On Monday In Bolingbrook

The Will County State’s Attorneys office has approved Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol charges for a 22 year old Willow Springs man following the fatal crash on I-55 this week.

It was just before 4 a.m., Illinois State Troopers were called to the scene of a crash on southbound I-55 and Weber road in Bolingbrook. Three vehicles were involved in the crash. ISP preliminary investigation showed one vehicle was parked partially in the left lane of I-55 near Weber Road because of a previous crash.

A second vehicle traveling in the left lane had sideswiped the first vehicle, which led to it becoming disabled in the lane of traffic according to the report.

A third vehicle rear ended the first vehicle which caused the first vehicle to catch fire. That person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Twenty-two year old Joseph Marszalik from Willow Springs faces 7 charges including DUI.

All southbound lanes of I-55 were shut down from 3:49 a.m. to 9:48 a.m.

The Will County Coroner’s office has conducted an autopsy but not identified the victim yet.
